Frequently Asked Questions

The following are typical questions asked of First Water by persons considering our systems.  Please do not hesitate to contact us at info@firstwaterinc.com with any other questions.

Can I buy direct from Aqua Sun?

No.  First Water is the Master Sales Representative Organization for the Aqua Sun Products.  First Water sets all pricing for the products, and is responsible for the placement of all orders with Aqua Sun.

Who are the Authorized Resellers?

First Water has established relationships with Authorized Resellers for specific areas of expertise.  These organizations and individuals are industry experts, have gone through First Water training, and orders for any products can be placed through them.

How can I become an Authorized Reseller?

First Water actively seeks additional relationships that will enable knowledge of our life saving products to be spread to as many as possible.  Simply contact us at info@firstwaterinc.com and we will be happy to discuss the details with you.

Are the Product Warranties from First Water or Aqua Sun?

As the organization responsible for all engineering, manufacture and assembly, Aqua Sun International is responsible for all warranty service.  First Water is responsible for sales and marketing.

What is the Warranty?

Aqua Sun warrants all new products to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal usage as follows:

  • Three (3) years for all components, except the pump, electrical components, and filters,
  • One (1) year for the pump and electrical components,
  • Filters and batteries are not warranted,

How long has the technology been around?

The first patents on the system were issued in 1995, and the first units went out the door in 1995.

Where are the units made?

Aqua Sun assembles all products in Minden, Nevada.  All components of the systems are made in the United States, with the exception of the solar panels that are made in Asia.

Can any units purify salt water?

No.  Brackish water is acceptable, but the user is cautioned to test the level of salinity to ensure it meets local health guidelines for the amount of salt acceptable.

Why filter and UV technology?

The pre-filter restricts any solids from entering the unit.  The sediment filter removes fine solids and particulate that cause cloudiness in the water, critical for the most effective UV penetration.  The carbon block filter reduces chemicals and removes odors and taste.  The UV, with its patented “double pass” technology, kills any living organisms in the water such as bacteria, viruses, etc.  The unique combination of all these purification methods yields incredibly cleaner water.

How often will I need to change filters?

The sediment filter is washable and reusable.  When the flow of water is slowed down, it is time to clean the filter.  When the flow of water is reduced even after cleaning, it is time to replace the filter.  The frequency of this is totally dependent on the quality of the source water.  Contaminated clear water such as wells, swimming pools, toilets, compromised water mains, etc. won’t require a filter change for a long time.  Water clouded by silt, sediment, fine sands, etc. will require a greater frequency of filter cleaning and changes.

The carbon block polishing filter is not cleanable, and needs to be changed after approximately 5,000 gallons or six (6) months.  The ultraviolet tube life expectancy under daily usage is 12 to 18 months.

How do I know my system is working?

You can be assured the filters are working properly if the flow of water is constant.  Once the flow starts to diminish, the filters likely need cleaning or replacing. In addition, First Water has engineered the systems to automatically shut off if the UV bulb not operating.

Will the technology remove ALL chemicals?

No.  While the system reduces virtually all over-the-road and common chemicals, it is impossible to claim the removal of ALL chemicals.  The carbon block filters used by First Water carry an NSF Approval and are made from coconut shells, the best and most expensive material to derive carbon for filtration. The carbon block absorbs chemicals, and needs to be replaced regularly to ensure proper chemical reduction.

Will the technology remove ALL biology?

No. Complete elimination of biological contamination is impractical. First Water uses high power ultraviolet technology (UV) to neutralize biological contaminants when using the system. The patented double-pass UV method forces the water to pass in front of the UV bulb for an extended time, producing exceptional results.

Can First Water provide custom systems for unique needs?

Yes.  The engineers at Aqua Sun are always available, and have assisted many organizations with custom designed systems for needs that do not completely match our standard product offerings.  However, as First Water and Aqua Sun have grown, the product line has expanded to fit most needs and custom solutions have become infrequent.  Please contact First Water with any such requests.

Does First Water or Aqua Sun have stock ownership opportunities?

No.  Both companies are privately owned and stock ownership or investing is not available.
